Electric Panels can be a complicated item but they don’t have to be. Very simply, they route electricity from the source (usually the power company) to the rest of the building. There are several dangers in dealing with electrical panels.

First, electric panels are often overloaded. This means that for the amount of energy supplied in from the power company (or solar panels) the hardware in the panel can’t take it. The panel melts and starts on fire, and the rest is messy.

Second, electric panels that are installed properly actually get old. How old? well, imagine you bought a brand new car 20 years ago and just let it sit and never touched it. After a while the rubber and plastic parts (think insulation in an electrical panel) get crusty, brittle, and lose their insulating power.

Either of these factors is the reason electrical service panels must be updated from time to time.
